About Us
The Knights of Columbus, Marian Council No. 3914, located in
We have two monthly meetings (the first Monday - Council Business Meeting and the last Monday Officers Business Meeting – open to all members - refreshments are available after meetings.) These meetings last approximately one hour and all business is presented and conducted in accordance with the Laws and Rules of the Supreme Council, the Board of Directors, the By-Laws of the Council, and the Rules of Parliamentary Law known as “Roberts Rules of Order.”
Dues are structured to cover required per capita costs and to cover such expenses as newsletters, mailings, professional services and special assessments.
All members are asked to participate in as many activities as possible but there are no mandatory service hours or donations. We do ask members to participate in the “24 Hour Knight” program. We depend on volunteering and pride in our council to accomplish our works of charity.
Our council’s works of charity include:
- Supporting church, community, and youth activities
- Catholic school activities
- Religious education
- Supporting seminarians
- Supporting vocations
- Special Olympics
- Fundraising for the mentally impaired
- Helping victims of disasters
- Providing a polling place for the Riverton community
Our members average a total of over 6,000 hours of service per year. That is more than 50 hours per active member. We also visit the sick and disabled members and support their families.
Our council has its own facility called Marian Memorial Hall and is located at
In addition to our activities, we rent the hall out for receptions, parties and other activities.
Members of our council are eligible for special rental rates for our hall. Members also have a private lounge area with special rates on beverages and food. The council also funds scholarships for members, their spouses and children to attend high school and college that are awarded annually. We also have special functions for members only and members and spouses.
Another benefit of membership is the insurance products available. The Supreme Council has an excellent insurance program that is rated AAA by the industry. The insurance program not only offers life insurance but long term care insurance, annuities, and investment plans. Our agent is available at our council meetings and on a one on one basis when needed.
As stated earlier, we depend on volunteerism to conduct our works of charity and ask that each member contributes two hours a month and participate in meetings, functions, and activities.
The requirements to become a knight are few. You must be a practical Catholic, go through an initiation process, and keep your dues current.
